This week's topic is brought by the Arachnid (common house spiders). With the warm weather, all forms of creepy crawlies emerge from the winter slumber...but none that strike fear more than the common house spider. Some of the most common spiders you will find in and around your home are:
The Wolf Spider
The Sac Spider
The Fishing Spider
The Snowbug Spider
The Jumping Spider
The Parson Spider
The Cobweb Spider or the Crab spider
You are likely aware of a few of these that are prominent for your location.
Spiders do serve a purpose in the great circle of life, but to some they are terrifying and a nuisance.
So here is the fix that will rid your home, Garage or trailer of the 8 legged monster that strike fear in many.
Spiders don't like peppermint oil or vinegar, so use a combination of the two against them. Spray windowsills and entryways with a solution of 1/2 cup white vinegar, 1 1/2 cups water, and 20 drops of peppermint essential oil. (Eucalyptus oil purportedly works, too, but I find peppermint a more pleasant scent.)
Enter the bonus round my friends Peppermint oil can also be an effective mouse deterrent, but it is not an effective way to remove mice that are already living in your home, garage, trailer or shed. If the scent is strong enough, it will prevent them from making a new home in the area where you place a cotton ball soaked in the essential oil.
